Install a funded heat pump in your home
Start at Home is an initiative that brings together scheme organisers that help heating engineers fit a government-funded heat pump at home. Gain the skills you need to help future proof your business.
How does Start at Home work?
Eligible heating engineers could benefit from up to £7,500* worth of heat pump kit and expert support for installing it in their own home or the home of a close relative. Partnering with a scheme organiser** can help reduce the cost and paperwork of getting a heat pump and provides additional support and training benefits.
Step 1
Find and register for a Start at Home scheme that works for you.
Step 2
Conduct a heat loss calculation and design your system, with support from the scheme provider.
Step 3
Order your heat pump, hot water cylinder and heat pump specific components from the scheme provider.
Step 4
Install and commission your heat pump with support from the scheme provider.

*In some cases, installation may not be fully subsidised and additional costs may apply, such as for homes that require a larger heat pump, or for additional non-heat-pump-related kit or electrical work.
**Both participation in any partnering scheme and the availability of government funding through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and Home Energy Scotland are subject to eligibility criteria and terms and conditions. You can review terms and conditions for each scheme on the individual scheme organisers’ websites, which you can access through the find a scheme page.
